Fitness has always been a large part of my life. Growing up I played many team sports including hockey, tennis, netball and basketball. I joined the Army not long after I finished high school and really developed a love of functional fitness and its many applications in real life. After 7 years in the Army I moved back to Adelaide and started training on my own. My training was really cardio based and I ran a lot. I entered a few half marathons as a way to ‘challenge’ myself, which they did. But…..I will never forget my first CrossFit experience in 2014 at CrossFit Brawn. Snatches followed by ‘Helen’. WOW!!! This challenged me in every sense. It also fed my competitive spirit in the best way possible. Even though I was last to finish the workout, everyone else in the gym cheered me on. I felt an instant connection with these people, after all, we had just completed one of the ‘Girls’!! Needless to say, I was absolutely spent but I was hooked and needed to sign up straight away!
I love that CrossFit is for everyone, from the 18 year old wanting to get stronger and fitter so he can perform better on the footy field, to the 65 year old grandmother who wants to be able to play with her grandkids for years to come, and everyone in between. CrossFit really is ‘All inclusive’. No matter what your health and fitness goals are, we can help you get there.
At our box, our aim is to create a community of people who support and encourage each other to reach their goals both inside and outside of the box. I am inspired and humbled by seeing our athletes achieve things they never thought were possible all because of their hard work and support from our ‘FitFam’.
