What is Infrared Sauna?
Infrared saunas use infrared wavelengths to penetrate deep within the tissue, muscle and bones. Unlike traditional saunas that use heated rocks to increase the temperature of the air around you making it difficult to breathe, an infrared sauna uses invisible infrared wavelengths that mimic the way the sun produces heat to heat your core – making it a much more comfortable sauna experience. By penetrating deep into your body, these wavelengths encourage your core temperature to slowly rise allowing your body to gently remove the build-up of unwanted toxins in your system.
What are the benefits of using Infrared Sauna?
Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body because they are easily absorbed, stimulating the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems. Infrared saunas may be beneficial for a range of health conditions, including but not limited to:
How often should I use Infrared Sauna?
We recommend at least upwards of twice a week. It can depend on your goal or health condition and you can use it daily if you wish. You can build it into your routine like you would exercise. If you are using the infrared sauna for different health protocols (e.g. a cleanse or detoxification program), it may help to sauna more frequently. Please be sure to talk to your medical practitioner should you have specific health concerns. There is information provided in the room about recommended session times & temperatures based on your needs.
Can I bring a friend to my session?
You can definitely bring a friend to your Recovery Room / infrared sauna session. Your session allows maximum 2 people in the Recovery Room, your friend will just need to complete a waiver before use. Our Recovery Room is for 16 years and older.
What should I wear to my Session?
We welcome you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in for the Sauna – which can be either swimmers or loose clothing. Please remember to remain seated on a towel during your session. If you choose to use Pliability (stretching session) then wear comfortable clothes and a towel on the yoga mat. You can use the shower in the gym for hot and cold therapy if you wish, so best you wear your swimmers and bring a towel for walking through the gym.
Who should be careful when using an infrared sauna?
If you are unsure about using an infrared sauna, always consult with your doctor or physician first.
Can I bring my phone into the Sauna?
Absolutely! That’s another benefit of infrared heat over steam; infrared does not affect electronics. You are welcome to pair your device with the sauna to listen through the in-built speakers or use your phone or kindle in the Sauna to read.
